Three ..... two ...... one! ACTION!
The Ballantrae Trust aims to ensure that the needs and aspirations of all sections of the community are recognised and work to protect and develop existing facilities, create new amenities and increase the social, environmental and economic sustainability of the Village. The Trust received a grant of £4,207 at the end of 2019 to purchase a projector for the Village Hall and recently reported the difference this has made to the community of Ballantrae.
Film nights have been operating at various locations in Ballantrae for some time, with the equipment being borrowed from a group in Stranraer which required a round trip of 30 miles. After consultation with the Trust members, it was agreed a permanent projector installation at the Village Hall would ensure the equipment was available to as many community groups as possible, allowing more events to be held.
The equipment was extensively used at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 for group presentations and for background information at events, until the pandemic forced the closure of the Village Hall. The equipment also has the capacity to be used at outdoor events such as the Ballantrae Festival of Food and Drink and the Smugglers Festival and the Trust are looking forward to utilizing the equipment when these events can re-commence.
As well as providing an opportunity to see films on the “big screen” it offers the community a place for social gathering with friends from Ballantrae and other local villages.
