RNLI were awarded a grant of £2,000 from the Carrick Futures Covid-19 Emergency Fund in July 2020.
The grant was to purchase PPE for the volunteer crew of Girvan Lifeboat station.
The PPE purchased with the grant enabled the volunteer lifeboat crew (as well as land based volunteers and individuals involved in a rescue) to maintain this vital emergency service. Rescue workers require close physical contact with a casuality and Covid-19 has meant that new PPE and hygiene requirements are required to continue this rescue service in a safe manner.
Michael Chorlton, RNLI, Marketing thanked the Board of Carrick Futures and quoted that "the grant from Carrick Futures has helped to maintain a supply of PPE for the lifeboat station of Girvan".
