Grant awarded to the Club to purchase and install LED floodlights
Girvan Football Club are celebrating an award of £25,000 from Carrick Futures’ latest grant making round, which awarded a total of £75,750 to projects benefitting South Carrick.
The grant of £25,000 awarded to Girvan Football Club will contribute to the cost of installing cost effective low energy LED floodlights around the pitch and running track at Hamilton Park. The addition of floodlights to the ground will provide a safe, well-lit environment enabling sports and other activities to be held throughout the winter months. As well as being the home of Girvan Football Club, the ground is utilised by many other community groups including Girvan Walking Football, Girvan Men’s Shed, Girvan Running Club and Girvan Cycling Club. Over 150 people currently benefit from the facility each week and the Club envisage this number will increase once the floodlights are installed and new community groups begin to make use of a well-lit Hamilton Park.
The project was a clear fit with the aim of Carrick Futures to improve access to services for young and older people. Danny McCulloch, Chair of Girvan Football Club said "Girvan Football Club are delighted to secure a grant of £25,000 from Carrick Futures towards the cost of the installation of floodlights at Hamilton park. Over the last few years Carrick Futures has supported the club in the re-development of the grounds and in helping us to establish ourselves as an important part of the local community. The funding they have given the Club has helped us deliver various projects for the people of South Carrick. We thank the Fund for this generous grant award.”
