Grant awarded to Age Concern Girvan to support the upgrade of the Hall.
AGE CONCERN GIRVAN CELEBRATES FUNDING AWARD
Age Concern Girvan has been operating for 40 years and registered as a charity in 2000, with the Group filling a unique gap in social and health provision in the Girvan area, with nothing similar being offered. Before Age Concern Girvan was closed due to the pandemic, meals were served in the Hall three days per week with an average of 60 elderly people attending each week. As well as providing a healthy three course meal for £5, the gatherings gave people an opportunity to socialise.
Age Concern Girvan premises have not been updated for a number of years, except for urgent repairs with the inside of the building looking tardy and the Committee are looking to improve the aesthetics, before their doors again, hopefully in the not too distant future.
The Group has recently been awarded a grant from the Big Lottery to upgrade elements of the kitchen and heating system and has now secured a grant of £5,750 from Carrick Futures. The grant will enable the Group to purchase new flooring and blinds for the Hall, as well as paint the interior.

We are using this time while we are closed due to Coivd-19 to upgrade the hall for the benefit of our users and wider community. When it is safe to reopen, we look forward to welcoming back our regular members, with new members also more than welcome to attend.”
