Getting Active in Dailly

In May 2018, Carrick Futures awarded a grant of £5,000 to Dailly Community Activity Centre to purchase replacement fitness equipment. The grant has purchased a new treadmill, air bike and ski ergometer for gym users.

The Community Activity Centre was established in 2010 after community members took over a closed council activity centre on a long-term lease. It aims to improve health for the facility users, through participation in sport and the provision of recreational facilities and activities.

The facility is open to all Carrick residents and visitors and includes a modern fitness suite, a sports hall for gymnastics, badminton, football and netball and has qualified instructors and fitness classes.

Refreshed gym equipment will benefit local residents in Dailly by providing a much-valued community service that supports health and wellbeing as well as helping to overcome social isolation and it is anticipated that the new equipment will increase usage of the Centre.

The Centre currently provides employment for five people and is key to the social cohesion of the village.
